Grandma Wonderful's reunion party pics

Saturday, May 11, was Grandma Wonderful's reunion party!
It was held at her clubhouse (awesome memories there!!) and
Rachelle and the girls, as well as Jesse, and everyone else who helped
out did an AMAZING job putting it together!
I know for me and my fam, I haven't seen anyone in 2+ years, so
it was absolutely fantastic to see everyone who was there,
and to hang out, talk, play games... and carry out a Rook tourney.
-
That day happened to be Raini's actual birthday!! So Rachelle was thoughtful enough
to put together a little bday corner for her, with decorations and even gifts!
(Of course, this means that Raini thought the WHOLE party was all for her! haha)
It was so fun for her. She loved her birthday area, and she carried her gift bag around
all day and all night, not letting it out of her sight for one second!
-
Strike a pose! ...With her princess gear ;)

-
A bit fuzzy, but this is Gram and her kids: Robyn, Sue, Wally, Rhonda,
Leslie and Grandma
-
Charlie's Angels much??
-
Oh, I miss this guys so much!
-
Peli and Wubbs playing ball with their 1st cousins twice removed haha
(we had to study that one out...)
-
At one point, Raini arranged her gifts as seen below, then she got my camera
out of my purse and took this photo herself! She was proud.
-
Raini also took this pic of Grandpa Lance, Joe and Peach
-
Another random shot by Rain-
-
Posing with her precious swag
-
The boys basically never came inside! They played tennis, basketball,
hula hoops, and played in the "sandbox" (a sand v-ball court)
-
-
-
-
Rook tournament: Jake and Lance playing Kim and Hoot at left,
Suka and Ethan toward the right, and Robyn and Jill far right
-
-
When it was almost time for us to leave, I glanced out the window and
snapped this shot of Peli. The kids were still playing, but he was taking
a break watching them. ...he was also getting tired...
-
Candles!
-
-
So much fun! Hope we can do it again before next summer!

Twenty Years

Cannot get my head around the fact that it has been
twenty years since Grandpa Wally passed away.
I still hate saying "passed away." Ew. That's yucky.
But I don't like any other way to say it either.
---
Here's Grandpa back in the day with Sue
How cool is he?!
-
With Grandma and Joe
-
At his beloved gym ;) lifting weights- this photo was in the
Deseret News, 1978
-
This is totally how I remember him- smiling,
laughing, a bit of a mischievous, teasing look...
-
With Wally (Jr.)
-
Waaay back in the day, with Rhonda, my mom Leslie, and Sue
-
With Gram
-
With Gram and all their kids
(PS- I've seen this photo a hundred gajillion times,
and I've never noticed til now that Robyn's wearing
knickers! That. Is. Awesome!!)
-
The Fam
-
I love this pic- this is another one that is exactly how I remember
Grandpa! This is in the backyard of my other grandparents' house.
Grandpa's in the chair, Ryan in the pool, Ethan next to Grandpa,
Corby at the end of the board, and Wally at the back!
-
He so adored Grandma.
He was an awesome husband.
What a great example.
-
He also adored his BYU.
And his ring.
And his hats.
-
With Justin and Gram
-
The "little" things I seem to always remember are things like
the change Grandpa always had in his pockets- when he'd walk,
you could hear the coins.
-
I remember him always playing drums on the steering wheel
of the car to his jazz music- and I remember so well the sound
his rings made as he played those drums.
-
I remember that his BYU ring was too big, but he would not
take it off long enough to have it sized... he simply wrapped
a wire around the back to make it fit-- that wire never came off.
-
I remember the last day I saw him was in our kitchen in
Provo, and he asked me for a hug.  I remember the color
pants he was wearing that day.
-
I remember he used to call Lance "Panner," which
was a name he ended up being called for many years.
Grandpa would turn it into a long, funny poem-song-thing
like "Lanner-Danner-Panner..."  I remember him saying
that all the time.
-
I remember that he often did the Haka- which always
made me smile.  Because he was an older,
white, Mormon dude, it was just... unexpected ;)
-
I remember he used to say, "Aroha!" and I would think
to myself, 'He's saying it wrong!' (assuming he was trying
to say Aloha and just getting it wrong...)
-
There are so many times I have wished he were here.
So many things I wish he could've shared with us.
Things I wish he could've helped with.
There are things I know he'd be proud of.
And [even more] things he'd be able to tease us about.
-
I am grateful that I was old enough to remember him,
and remember as much as I do.
-
We miss you Grandpa.
-
And many thanks to Grandma Wonderful for keeping
up so many of our traditions and jokes and laughs and love.
I love, love, love this pic of Gram with my dad.
Don't really know why, I just like it.
(It's from Matt and Brianna's reception.)
-
I certainly hope Gramps has been able to share some of these
moments with us the last few years!
